The Knights of Hermes

Light up beads and other throws with winged shoes are the must catch items from the Knights of Hermes. This group’s parade rolls on the Friday before Mardi Gras, kicking off the night’s festivities in Uptown New Orleans. In 2019, the parade theme was “The Court Music of Louis XIV." With around 700 riders, this parade gives you plenty of opportunities to take home some Hermes themed throws. The Knights trace their roots back to the late 1930’s.

Krewe D’etat

Shrouded in secrecy until the parade rolls, Krewe D’etat presents a smorgasbord of political satire and humor. Led by “The Dictator”, parade goers can expect to see a lot of skeletons and caricatures as the parade rolls by. In 2019, Krewe D’etat made sure to tap into the frustrations over a call that kept the New Orleans Saints from making it to the Superbowl.

Krewe of Morpheus

The Krewe of Morpheus rolls through Uptown New Orleans on the Friday before Mardi Gras. It’s usually the last of three parades along that route. This Krewe takes its name from the Greek God of Dreams and in 2019, the Morpheus theme was “Dream Destinations.” The Krewe of Morpheus was founded in 2000 and is one of the largest co-ed krewes in the city.
